It is officially spring break here in Gwinnett County, Georgia. Nathan and I were scheduled to go on a cruise this week; unfortunately, my finances did not cooperate, so I had to cancel our trip. Instead, I am going to spend the next seven days working on the following.
- HOME IMPROVEMENTS
Here are the "before" pictures, taken just a few minutes ago.
In our defense, please note that the deconstruction has already begun. We don't always live like this. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
- INCOME TAXES
This is one time of year I hate being self-employed. Because I am going to have to set aside at least one full day to organize that mountain of receipts and start filling out those returns. Thank goodness for Quicken and Turbo Tax.
To help me stay on track with my writing in the midst of all this chaos, I am joining A Round of Words in 80 Days writing challenge tomorrow. Beginning April 4th and ending June 23rd, I am committed to the following writing goals:
- Outline revision of The Wishing Box; complete rewrite (minimum 250 words per day/7000 words per week).
- Create synopsis of Hilda and submit to agent per request.
- Compose one short story and submit for publication to Woman's World magazine.
- Post regularly to blog.
If you would like to participate - even if you have never done any writing before - click HERE for the rules. Your goals are strictly up to you; there is no mandatory word count. And if you don't have a personal blog and would like to share your goals as a comment at the end of this post, feel free.
- ONLINE BOOK CLUB
My readers have spoken; our first online book club selection will be To Kill A Mockingbird. To participate, all you have to do is get a copy of the book and start reading. I will open comments for discussion on Friday, May 13th; I am really looking forward to digging into this novel and chatting about it with you!
So we're not going on a luxury vacation. But I'm hoping we will end the week with a sense of satisfaction in our accomplishments. Moving forward, I know we will enjoy the improvements in our living spaces.
And maybe, just maybe, I will be able to get my ducks in a row so that Nathan and I can climb on board this big ship in June, 2012. Who wants to come along?
