Back to the Books Giveaway Blog Hop
I am participating in the Back to the Books Giveaway Blog Hop, hosted by I Am A Reader, Not A Writer and Buried in Books. This hop is scheduled to run September 1st through September 7th. To enter, all you have to do is follow my blog and leave a comment at the end of this post, letting me know you are a follower and sharing your favorite thing about back to school. It might be the scent of a freshly sharpened pencil, the possibilities represented by a brand-new box of crayons, or simply having more time to yourself now that the kids are away all day. For me the best part of school wasn't seeing my friends. It was the homework. I actually loved homework! I loved workbooks with blank pages I had to fill in. I loved writing speeches. I loved making diaramas. I loved reading books for book reports. If I was sick, I was ecstastic getting to do my makeup homework in bed. Weirdo, I know. LOL

One of my favourite things about going back to school was getting a brand-new fountain pen for that year. I think that's why I still have a weakness for them. I also loved covering my text books, using paper grocery bags and then decorating them.
I think it's time to start using my fountain pen again. :-)

I enjoyed once again seeing and talking to classmates I hadn't seen all summer. I liked getting the classbooks and leafing through them to see what we would be learning this school year. The only thing I didn't like was learning a new combination for the lock on my locker. (I had nightmares about forgetting it!)

For me, the best part of school is the reading! I'm homeschooled, and can pick the books I'd like to read for my reading list during the school year. Definitely the highlight! :)

My favorite part of back to school season has always been school supply shopping! I may very well have 25 cases of pens, and 5 notebooks at home, but I most definitely will be getting new stuff for the school year. At least, that's how it was. I really miss school!

My favorite part of going back to school when I was in High School and College was going through all the syllabi and inputting all the tests, due dates of papers, etc in my planner. Each class had its own ink color. Then setting each class up into its own folder. And then I basically ignore the planner most of the time and my lovely system degenerates in to my usual chaos.

My mom taught kindergarten for 30+ years, so when I was younger, I always thought it was cool to go into her school a few weeks before classes would start and help her get things ready--put up bulletin boards, make name tags, all that good 5 year-old fun. :)

My favorite about back to school in high school and college was spending lots of money in the office supply store. Now it's being on the other side, seeing my daughter get to have fun in kindergarten. I will also finally get to go food shopping by myself in the morning when my son starts preschool. Yay!
