At least where NaNoWriMo is concerned. I fell far short of my goal of writing 50,000 words in 30 days; I managed to eke out only 15,006. Which makes me, officially, a loser.
Except 15,006 words averages out to 500 words a day for the month, which is actually fairly respectable, specially if you consider everything else I had on my plate. Presenting at the state music teacher's conference. Beading To Beat Autism. Going on a cruise.
Next year, I will sign up for NaNoWriMo again; this year, I'm going to give myself an attagirl for effort. I am certain that I wouldn't have written as many words as I did if not for the challenge. And I'm still writing; I even submitted two queries yesterday, one including a requested partial. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

I'm a loser this year, too, but I finished my novella, so I still win. There's always next year, and all those other Nano-wannabe months. :D

Some words of wisdom by Jackie Gleason--I have a 'Play The Melody' philosophy. It means don't over-arrange, don't make life difficult. Just play the melody—and do it the simplest way possible.
Thank you, Christine. I really did have a lot on my plate in November. It was a big deal to speak at the state music teacher's conference, to take on the challenge of making and selling 300 bracelets in 30 days, and taking my son on a much-needed vacation. Something had to give, and it turned out to be NaNoWriMo. But I am off to a strong start on my next novel. Watch out world, here I come! :-)

Pam, I only got 20,008. But I love every word I wrote and I did write most days. I take pride in every word.
I have done Nano in the past and completed it or "won", but I have never been as completely pleased with my writing and my efforts as I am this year.
So take pride in what you have written and making the effort to do it at all!!!
