Dreaming of Books Giveaway Blog Hop

I am participating in the Dreaming of Books Giveaway Blog Hop, hosted by I Am A Reader, Not A Writer. This hop is scheduled to run January 16th-26th . To enter, all you have to do is follow my blog and leave a comment at the end of this post letting me know you are a follower and sharing a little bit about the last book you read: title, author, and a brief synopsis. I am looking forward to a great list! For additional entries, you can follow me on Twitter (click HERE), "like" my Facebook fan page (click HERE) or friend me on Goodreads (click HERE). Leave an additional comment for each additional entry. At the end of the week, one lucky winner will be chosen by a random number generator to receive a $10 Amazon gift card. Be sure to leave your email address with your comment so that I will know how to contact you should your name be selected. Click HERE for the links to the 150+ other blogs that are also doing book-related giveaways. All contests begin at midnight Eastern time tonight (Thursday); any entries received prior to that time will not be included in the drawing.

Happy blog hopping!

I'm currently reading Emma by Jane Austen. It's a very fun book but difficult after the glut of YA I've been reading. I follow on GFC as Heather Kinser.

Thanks for the giveaway! The last book I read that I really enjoyed was Bellweather Rhapsody by Kate Racculia. It's a mystery novel about a murder that took place many years ago in a hotel. Many years later there is a music festival at the same location that brings the murder back into light.

Followed via GFC as Ashfa Anwer. I'm reading Champion by Marie Lu. It's the 3rd book in the Legend Trilogy and I'm a bit disappointed with the way the whole series is going. Love reading dystopian but this series didn't keep me hooked.

I read Stitching snow by R.C Lewis. Its a retelling of Snow white where she is hiding on another planet to escape the evil step mother and horrible king. Then she meets Dane and now she is ready to face the future. The seven dwarves are seven robots that she upgraded. Its a great retelling and is now one of my favorite book.

I recently read The Silkworm by Robert Galbraith (JK Rowling's pen name). It's a mystery about an author who is killed after he writes a manuscript that contains brutal parodies of other authors, publishers, and editors that he knows. I loved the book. It's the second in JK Rowling's new series and the plotting and writing is really intricate, intelligent, and a pleasure to read. I also really like her detective character, Cormoran Strike, and his assistant, Robin. I like how the book includes a balance of the mystery and also plotlines involving the personal lives of Strike and Robin. I'd recommend it if you enjoy mysteries or modern fiction.

The last book I read was Necromancing the Stone. It's about a boy who just learned he's a necromancer. The first book was better than this sequel, but it's still good. I love a funny protagonist.

I'm following by email. One of my last reads was You'll Never Nanny in This Town Again by Suzanne Hanson. It was written by a former Hollywood Nanny and interesting because she does name a couple of well known actresses.

The last book I've read was a fantasy novel which was supposed to be good, but I was disappointed byit - Lord Foul's Bane by Stephen R. Donaldson. I don't recommend it. The protagonist is very unlikable, and the book seems heavily inspired by The Lord of the Rings but without Tolkien's greatness.

I am currently reading Landline by Rainbow Rowell. It is about a woman who is having marital problems, but plugs in an old rotary phone at her Mom's house and is able to speak to her husband in the past (before he proposed to her). So she has to decide if she is supposed to change the past or not. It is really good, I have loved all of Rowell's YA books so it is nice to read something for adults.

And I just finished reading Reality Boy by A.S. King, which is about what happens when a boy famous for his antics on a reality TV show has to grow up with all that history dragging him down. It's not a new favorite, but it was very well written, and I enjoyed it.

The last book I read was The Wife, The Maid and the Mistress by Ariel Lawhorn and I really didn't like it. The writing was way too simplistic for my taste. It is about the disappearance of NY State Supreme Court Judge Joseph Crater, which is still unresolved to this day. Thanks for the chance!
